In a quest to conquer the sandy shores, the team at Tomley RC embarked on a mission to create the ultimate beach basher. Their initial creation, a beastly Habo SS truck equipped with sand paddles, tore through the dunes with ferocity. Now, seeking to replicate this success at a fraction of the cost, they turned their attention to the FTX Crossbow, a wide and low-slung monster truck from the UK brand FTX. Despite initial steering and speed issues, the team was determined to transform this budget-friendly model into a beach-blazing machine.
With upgrades from Upgrade RC, including unique wheels and tires, and a powerful Rocket motor combo, the FTX Crossbow underwent a significant transformation. Testing the modified vehicle on the sandy terrain revealed challenges with steering and motor performance, prompting further enhancements with a new ESC and motor setup. Despite facing setbacks like a broken driveshaft, the team's determination to achieve high speeds and optimal performance remained unwavering.
In a thrilling showdown of beach bashers, the team also put the wide granite model to the test, showcasing its stability and speed with Proline paddles. As they compared the costs and performance of various models, the wide granite emerged as a budget-friendly favorite, offering impressive performance at a reasonable price point. Additionally, a smaller-scale, brushless model sourced from AliExpress proved to be a hidden gem, delivering exceptional speed and agility at a fraction of the cost. Through trials and triumphs, the team at Tomley RC demonstrated their passion for pushing the limits of RC vehicle performance on the sandy shores.
