In this riveting episode of Tomley RC, we witness the unveiling of the monstrous MCD XR5, a 1/5 scale rally car that promises sheer exhilaration. With dimensions that dwarf a 1/10 scale rally car, this beast is equipped with top-notch components like the Hobbywing Max 4 ESC and a 70125 560KV motor running on a blistering 12s power setup. However, the assembly process hits a snag as the host grapples with motor bracket alignment issues, showcasing the challenges of handling such a massive machine.
Undeterred by setbacks, the host perseveres, installing a robust 45kg brushless Servo for braking, ensuring this rally car is primed for heart-stopping performance. The XR5's striking body receives custom paint details, including unique round lights for added flair, setting it apart from the rest. As the XR5 hits the road for a test run, it unleashes its power, reaching speeds of 65mph on 8s power before transitioning to 12s power for an adrenaline-pumping ride.
The high speeds achieved on 12s power push the XR5 to its limits, resulting in tire blowouts and damage to the rear valance, a testament to the raw power and intensity of this machine. Despite the challenges faced during the test run, the host looks ahead to future upgrades, considering foam inserts for enhanced tire performance and planning to take the XR5 to a runway for even more thrilling high-speed runs. Stay tuned for more heart-racing adventures with the MCD XR5 on Tomley RC.
