Enhancing Arma Grom RC Car Performance: Brushless Motor Upgrade

Today on AMain Hobbies, the team takes the Arma Grom, a budget-friendly RC car, and transforms it into a speed demon with a brushless motor upgrade. This Typhen model, priced at a mere $150, comes ready to run but lacks the power desired by enthusiasts. By installing a 4600 KV motor and a 35 amp ESC conversion kit, along with a new servo and aluminum servo saver, they elevate the Grom to new heights of performance. The addition of upgrade RC tires and a chassis protector further enhance the car's capabilities, making it a force to be reckoned with on the track.
The meticulous process of upgrading the Grom involves considerations such as heat dissipation, steering precision, and receiver compatibility. The team emphasizes the importance of a robust servo for powerful steering, as well as the need to adjust endpoints and center the steering for optimal performance. Utilizing a Fly Sky system instead of the stock transmitter allows for greater customization and control over the vehicle. The ESC's self-calibration feature and programmable options, coupled with the Eco Power Programmer card, offer a high level of flexibility in fine-tuning the car's settings.
With the upgraded Grom ready to hit the road, the team conducts speed tests on both 2S and 3S batteries, showcasing the significant performance gains achieved through the brushless motor conversion. The car's top speed reaches an impressive 52 mph on 3S, highlighting the dramatic improvement in acceleration and power delivery. Despite the increased speed, the team notes the importance of upgrading the differentials and axles for optimal performance on 3S. The video concludes with a thrilling demonstration of the Grom's enhanced traction and speed, solidifying its status as a formidable contender in the world of RC racing.
